MACEDON (ROMAN PROVINCE). Aesillas, quaestor, circa 95-70 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 28 mm, 16.17 g, 12 h), uncertain mint in Macedon, struck under L. Iulius Caesar, praetor, circa 70-65. CAE•PR•MAKEΔONΩN Head of Alexander the Great to right, with horn of Ammon over his ear; behind to left, Θ. Rev. AESILLAS / Q Money chest, club, and chair; all within laurel wreath. AMNG III/2, 7. Bauslaugh Group VII, O86/R308. HGC 3.1, 1112. Rare and nicely toned. Minor area of weakness and with a small scratch on the reverse, otherwise, very fine.
